Going Home YouTube Address:
GOING HOME – You know how when you go back to your home town and everything looks so different; The house looks so much smaller because it felt bigger when you were just little. The buildings have changed and your childhood friends have grown up and moved away…but your mom and dad are still the same…they still have grapefruit before breakfast and wear the same flannel shirt…well That is GOING HOME.
My youngest daughter plays the part when I was younger, and my voice student plays the part when I get a little older, and the part of my mom and dad are played by my managers Cleo and John. In Fact, Cleo and John are also in the “Here Goes Nothing” DVD and the “Outlaw Blues” DVD so if you see all three DVD’s you can play ‘Where’s Waldo” and look for them.
GOING HOME
Words and Music by Patti Miner
Verse
The home that I grew up in stood so tall
But going home to see it seemed so small
But memories made and love that grew
Keeping me so close to you
Memories of going home
Verse
The school house gone and condos in its’ place
The swing up in the oak tree, not a trace
Walking down the narrow street
Familiar footsteps to my feet
Memories of going home
Chorus
Going home, going home
Everything is different and so new
Going home, going home
The only thing that hasn’t changed is you
Verse
My friends have all grown up and moved away
Perhaps they’ll come and visit here some day
And when they look into the sky
They’ll feel a teardrop in their eye
With memories of going home
Chorus
Going home, going home
Everything is different and so new
Going home, going home
The only thing that hasn’t changed is you
